The breeder after whom this variety was named states that Bubba Kush was created shortly after 1996, when OG Kush pollinated an unknown indica obtained in New Orleans. The mother plant was supposedly Northern Lights, but the genetically ambiguous indica was simply called “Bubba”. Bubba Kush moved to Florida with OG Kush, where it thrived and became a classic. The variety gave rise to many generations of other varieties, including Kush Mints and later Wedding Cake.
